In contrast with the bulk of adjoining stone water gates, the bridge is a light steel construction, spanning the river in a single leap. The upper surface serves car traffic, the future streetcar, and two-way bicycle lane. The lower bridge serves pedestrians. The two-storey concept provides enough static height to divide tensions into slender constructive elements, a "spatial lace". The space is not burdened by diverse accents, but allows for free flow of water and air, so a two arch motive is introduced: the lower permeates water, the upper dematerializes tectonics, making the bridge float. The lower levels clearly direct the user via constructions elements, their slenderness allows for airy walking surface and close contact with water.
